Coastal Automotive was named a GM Supplier of the Year by General Motors during its 25th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony held Friday, March 31 in Orlando, Florida. Coastal Automotive supplies General Motors with occupant safety solutions.
Out of more than 20,000, GM recognized 118 of its best suppliers that have consistently exceeded GM’s expectations, created outstanding value or brought new innovations to the company. This is the second time Coastal Automotive has received the award.
“We are deeply gratified to be awarded GM Supplier of the Year,” said Clarence Martin, president and chief commercial director of Coastal Automotive. “It’s an honor to receive this highly respected recognition that substantiates our strong relationship with General Motors.”
A global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives select the award winners for delivering innovative technology, superior quality, timely crisis management and competitive, total-enterprise cost solutions.
“We are focused on building positive supplier relationships, bringing new, customer-centric innovations to GM and being the OEM of choice among suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “The companies we recognize tonight not only have brought innovation, they delivered it with the quality our customers deserve.”
Coastal Automotive was recognized by Michigan Celebrates Small Business as one of Michigan’s 50 companies to Watch in 2016. The company met that expectation by adding a facility in West Michigan, announcing their international expansion plans and continuing to grow sales by double-digit figures.
“Receiving a GM Supplier of the Year award is a privilege and an affirmation of a very successful year for Coastal Automotive,” said Martin. “We value our relationship with General Motors and we’re proud to continue to support GM’s values and objectives by providing innovative, high quality solutions.”
