Coastal Automotive Wins 2018 GM Supplier of the Year Award

Coastal Automotive has earned recognition from General Motors as one of its 2018 Supplier of the Year award recipients. Considered the top honor awarded by GM to its suppliers, the Supplier of the Year award is reserved for suppliers who separate themselves from other companies by going above and beyond. The award also recognizes suppliers who operate with the most innovative technologies for the industry’s highest-quality vehicles.

This year’s recognition marks the third time Coastal Automotive earned the GM Supplier of the Year award. GM also recognized Coastal Automotive with the award in 2013 and 2016.

“Earning the Supplier of the Year award from GM is a collaborative effort of everyone involved with Coastal Automotive,” said Toby Curry, director of operations for Coastal Automotive. “With the experience we’ve gained through the years, we have systems and processes in place to meet the needs of this vital customer.”

Coastal Automotive’s Jason Gaide, senior business development manager, and Shaun Sikora, VP of engineering and technology, received the award during GM’s 27th Supplier of the Year awards ceremony, held May 15 in Detroit, Michigan.

“In the 30 years that I have been in the automotive industry, I can say that the team at Coastal Automotive is the best example I have ever seen of a true team, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence for all their stakeholders,” said Paul Doyle, CEO for Coastal Automotive. “This Supplier of the Year award is a great acknowledgment of the quality of the work, thinking, innovation and determination of each member of the Coastal Automotive team. We are honored that GM sees in us the attributes they want in a global supply partner and we continue to exceed their expectations as we grow with them into the future.”

A global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives chose the Supplier of the Year recipients with companies from 15 countries represented.

“We hold our suppliers to a high bar,” said Steve Kiefer, GM senior vice president, global purchasing and supply chain. “They went above and beyond to deliver the innovations and quality that will help us earn customers for life.”

Coastal Automotive also earned the GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award in 2016 and 2017, and in 2016 was named one of Michigan’s 50 Companies to Watch by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.
