Our Story
2007
VeriCorr Packaging, a North Carolina company, partnered with DOW Automotive and founded a contract manufacturing business in Troy, Michigan. Their innovation was a new process to manufacture components made from IMPAXX™ foam, which has since become instrumental as a passive safety countermeasure in the automotive market. This original startup was called Vericorr Fabricating.
2008
Vericorr Fabricating was purchased by Coastal Group, a Holland, MI-based diversified holding group. With the Great Recession of the late 2000s, the packaging side of Vericorr Fabricating was consolidated to Holland, MI and joined with Coastal Container, another subsidiary of Coastal Group. The automotive parts operation moved to Research Drive in Rochester Hills, Michigan and was renamed to Coastal Automotive. By the end of 2008 it had grown from 3 to 15 employees.
2010
Coastal Automotive established a long-term partnership with Dow Automotive. The business transitioned from a contract manufacturer to full-service provider and the exclusive manufacturer for IMPAXX™ energy absorbing products to the market. With this agreement, Coastal Automotive became a direct supplier to the OEM’s and all major Tier 1 suppliers.
2011
To complement the IMPAXX™ product line, Coastal Automotive’s innovation and marketing efforts led to a similar collaborative license agreement with Sealed Air to manufacture components using a foam with unique properties to assist with airbag deployment. These innovations led to Coastal Automotive becoming a world leader in foam-based safety products for the global automotive market.
