Process Engineer

REPORTS TO:  Process Engineering Manager  

Purpose of the job
Provides engineering technical expertise and the tools to support all phases of manufacturing and resolve manufacturing issues. 

Essential Job Responsibilities 

Provides manufacturing with tools and technical engineering support. Implements new products and processes into production.  Selects, designs, installs, and modifies equipment and fixtures for new product launches and existing products. 

Leads process design functions. Determines product flow using current engineering and continuous improvement techniques.  Establishes resource requirements and material flow using industrial engineering techniques and internal standards to establish optimum productivity. 

Analyzes various product structures and processes. Eliminates inefficiencies and reduces manufacturing costs through analysis of various product structures and processes.  Performs DOE analysis to determine optimum operating parameters by manipulating variables and analyzing how they interact to achieve the most efficient cell measured by processing time, quality, and cost. 

Monitors and controls objectives and costs of assigned projects. Establishes and follows program time lines. 

Participates in continuous improvement activities. Reduces cycle time, down time, change over time; improves processes, and/or tooling. 

Conducts manufacturing process tests.  Selects, adapts, and modifies test equipment and procedures; sets up and operates equipment.     

Troubleshoots, identifies, and implements systems and/or process needs and improvements. Implements changes to work cell layout, process flow, work standards, etc. 

Participates as a member of the Operations Team.  Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.  Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.  Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues. Actively look for ways to reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Educational Requirements  Experience Requirements 
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or closely related field.   Technical Experience: Minimum of 3 years in engineering or related field. Thorough knowledge of materials, machine dynamics, etc.  Technically current in machine design and/or equipment engineering with strong understanding of controls (i.e. operating logic) and ability to integrate into process equipment. 

Industry Experience: Good understanding and working knowledge of lean manufacturing systems, techniques, and tools.
