The purpose of this job is to secure profitable sales growth with targeted OEM Automotive customers. This person will ensure the key influences within target customers have a clear and compelling understanding of our products and services. He/she will identify, develop and close new business opportunities.

Develop account strategies for targeted customers. Identify key influencers and opportunities to create value. Meet regularly with decision-makers and influencers to learn about customers’ needs and how decisions get made.
Develop strong customer relationships. Develop a broad network of relationships within each target account. Strengthen our reputation by being responsive and following through on all commitments.
Develop new business opportunities. Educate customers with compelling presentations, lunch and learn events, and site visits. Document the strategy and actions needed to win each new business opportunity using Blue Sheets (Miller Heiman).
Manage the sales process. Serve as the primary communication conduit between the customer and the Coastal team. Make connections between the customer and us to ensure we deliver on our commitments.
Negotiate agreements to capture maximum value. Take the lead negotiating business terms, obstacles and problems as they arise.
Close new business. Grow our annual revenue with new and existing customers. Review profit margins periodically and ensure pricing delivers acceptable margins.
Educate us. Communicate essential customer information as needed. Inform the management team of risks and opportunities within each major customer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering, MBA Preferred.
- 3-5 years in automotive industry and 7-10 years successfully closing new business in an outside sales role
- Experienced selling engineered solutions to European Auto Makers including, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, etc.
- Strong networking and relationship building skills
- Strategic Selling Skills
- Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Skills
- Deep knowledge of the Automotive supply chain and industry standards such PPAP, 8D, etc.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Strong desktop computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
