Purpose of the job

Serve customers with industry-leading quality and delivery performance. Serve employees by creating a safe, high performance culture. Ensure great leadership and effective processes in all functions. Serve the business with strong quality system discipline, consistent operational results and year-over-year improvements in productivity. Key measures include, Osha Incident Rate, customer complaints, yield, scrap, labor efficiency, productivity, capacity utilization and on-time delivery.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Operational Planning: Develop and implements deliberate plans for operational improvements by analyzing the value stream and targeting measurable improvement in labor efficiency, quality, yield, equipment utilization, etc.

Operational Performance: Deliver daily, weekly and monthly performance across all key measures. Provide detailed analysis and countermeasures for variances to plan.

Workforce Planning: Maintain appropriate level of staff support necessary to meet business and budgetary goals and objectives. In times of variance, quickly develop plans and action plans to remedy the situation.

Workforce Development: Support employee development efforts and future workforce planning with training and apprenticeship programs designed to enrich existing work designs and prepare people for future opportunities.

Materials Management: Ensure a robust inventory management, scheduling and material handling system. Work with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure discipline and enhancement of current standards.

Facilities and Maintenance: Ensure the safe and efficient utilization of the building and all equipment. Enforces building security, PM schedules and process engineering standards. Work with the Process Engineering team on equipment improvements and qualifications.

Quality Management: Drive discipline and improvements to the Quality Management System. Work with the Corporate Quality team to support third party and customer audits.

Budgeting and Financial Management: Support the budgeting process by translating forecasted demand into accurate direct labor budgets and indirect workforce plans. Participate in capital planning activities with detailed budgets for plant and equipment improvements.

Team Leadership: Establish meeting rhythm to coordinate activities with the plant leadership team. Establish effective processes for measuring operational performance and the impact of strategic initiatives.

Supports program management:  Coordinate work and priorities with program management to support efficient and effective launches of new products and new programs.

PLEX ERP System: Support the development subject matter and process expertise in PLEX ERP system. Drive standards and educate others to help optimize the utility of the management system.  Ensure best practices and standards are documented consistent with our quality system standards.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations Management, or closely related field.

-OR- equivalent experience and professional training.

Experience:  7+ years in operations leadership role; Experience in automotive industry preferred.
