2017 GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award

Coastal Automotive was awarded the 2017 General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award for the second year in a row during GM’s Supplier Quality Excellence awards ceremony held Wednesday, Oct. 17.

General Motors has recognized suppliers with the Quality Award since 2012. The award recognizes suppliers for meeting 13 different criteria including efficient manufacturing practices, positive customer satisfaction, dependable delivery times and more.

“This award is a collaborative effort of our different departments including shipping, production and more,” said Ben Shaw, quality engineer for Coastal Automotive. “It really comes down to the systems and processes we have in place that give us the ability to earn this award.”

Along with winning the GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award in 2016 and 2017, Coastal Automotive received the GM Supplier of the Year award in 2013 and 2016. It was also recognized by Michigan Celebrates Small Business as one of Michigan’s 50 Companies to Watch in 2016.The company received the Michigan Celebrates Small Business award after opening a facility in West Michigan, announcing their international expansion plans and continuing to grow its sales numbers.

“We are excited and proud to be recognized with the GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award for 2017,” said Paul Doyle, chief executive officer for Coastal Automotive. “General Motors is a vital customer for us, so to be recognized once again for the hard work our team has done, in partnership with GM, is a great achievement. I am particularly proud of our team at Coastal Automotive because without their ingenuity and hard work, putting in quality systems and holding ourselves to a very high standard, we would not be in the position to win this award two years in a row.
